The Making of a Successful Anti-Choice Approach
November 28th, 2007For years anti-choice groups have attacked abortion by presenting the most horrible images imaginable of fetuses. The strategy was to evoke emotional responses so intense and far reaching that it would lead to the outlawing of abortion. The approach led to “fetal homicide” legislation, the creation of the non-medical term “partial birth” abortion, and much more. Because it has not yet led to the outlawing of abortion, the anti-choice zealot forces fabricated a new assertion: an abortion endangers a woman’s mental health. Does it? The scientific answer is NO and science backs this up. Anti-choice groups argue that it does. Frighteningly, Justice Kennedy used this manufactured reason in the April 2007 US Supreme Court decision upholding the ban on a medically necessary abortion procedure. This manipulative argument is making devastating in-roads and can no longer be dismissed. We don’t have to sit back and let them control the debate. Educate yourself and vote.
